In the summer of ‘09, the Sobriquets put forth their second release, the first record that truly represents them as a full ensemble.

The Sobriquets’ ...Are Out of Style takes the singer-songwriter base of their debut self-titled album and builds on it with soaring three-part harmonies, tight rock arrangements, and a driving beat.

...Are Out of Style seeks to honor the folk and rock styles of the ‘90s (think Counting Crows meets Being There-era Wilco, with a bit of R.E.M. for good measure), and yet it looks forward, rather than being content to bask in nostalgia’s glow. The album’s roots are apparent on the first listen, but it’s clear that the band has injected their own distinctive style into the mix, creating a hybrid of genres and sounds. Every member brings a variety of influences to the table (indie rock, metal, atmospheric instrumentals, Nashville country, etc.), and while in other hands these conflicting directions might clash, the Sobriquets carefully combine subtle elements of each to produce a very unique and listenable EP.
